There are always some noises when you are driving a car, and those are entirely normal. Sounds like a squeaky windscreen wiper and a loud acceleration are nothing to worry about. However, if it sounds like grinding, which means the bare metal is rubbing on the other metal, this is a clear sign that your brake pads have worn out (or are close to it). Hence, you need to take your car to the mechanic as soon as possible.
It hisses once the car is stopped– When you turn off the engine, if you hear any hissing it is an indication that something is leaking into the hot innards of the car, such as coolant. Be very careful if investigating this one yourself rather than taking it straight to a service centre, as you could burn yourself. In such cases, stop driving your car anywhere else and take it straight to the mechanic to get the issues resolved at the earliest.
Squealing under the bonnet: If you hear any high pitch squeal coming from the bonnet, it is a clear indication that something is wrong. The accessory belt might have slipped and is losing traction, for example. Anything that is loose is less effective and potentially very dangerous. In many cases this requires a part replacement, so don’t ignore this condition.
